A Letter from the Patients at the Patient Shelter in Lilongwe

November 2012

Congratulations to Operation Smile

The patients and guardians at this Shelter want to express our gratitude for the big role you have done to the Children of Malawi.

Operation Smile has brought happiness to people who were somehow disabled, particularly lips.

Operation Smile indeed has brought back our smile. It was very hard for us to smile before the wonderful job you have done on us.

Socially! Our lives were in darkness with our lips apart, exposing our teeth to the gathering we could hardly contribute to social life. We were so shy, hence keeping our opinions and suggestions to ourselves, because people, instead of listening to us, their eyes and minds were focusing on our mouth and how we speak.

We are so grateful to the entire Operation Smile team for providing real life and happiness onto our faces. We can now smile anytime, any how and will be able to share social life back home.

Further more we don’t rejoice sickness but with your management, we are thankful for the support you have given us.

Truly speaking: we could not manage to find our own accommodation, food, beddings and transport.

Operation Smile, you are really a friend indeed. We hope this is not the end but the begging of providing smile to Malawi and beyond Africa.

We also thank the donor and well wishes for taking part. Together you have brought Smiles in Malawi.

Once again, we thank you all for the commendable job you have done to us. On behalf of my fellow patients and guardians, I thank you all. May God bless you!
