Escom (the electric company of Malawi) graced me with their presence
the other day. It literally took 10 minutes for them to connect a wire
to my house and install a meter. I have power! Well, it's prepaid
power, which means I have to travel to either Mzuzu or Lilongwe, visit
the Escom headquarters, give them my ID number, they print out a
receipt with a code that I must take back to my house and punch into
my meter. I feel like there must be a more efficient way, but I am not
complaining. Power!
